🔧 Repair Overview
Power Button Repair is one of the most common repairs for LG G7. This repair involves replacing the damaged input component with a new or refurbished part. The process typically takes 1-2 hours and requires moderate skill level.
What You'll Need
- Replacement input part (OEM or aftermarket)
- Precision screwdriver set (Phillips #000 or pentalobe)
- Opening tools (plastic spudger, suction cup)
- Adhesive strips or glue
- Clean workspace with good lighting
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1:
Insert a SIM card eject tool into the hole in the SIM card slot on the top right of the phone.
After the SIM card tray is ejected, remove the SIM card tray from the phone.
Remove the SIM card from the tray.
Step 2:
Place the phone so the back cover is facing upwards.
Insert the opening picks one by one onto each side with equal pressure.
There is extra adhesive at the top near the cameras. You need to loosen the adhesive there to open the case.
If the picks are too thick to fit in, you can use the Jimmy to start the process.
Use the pick with the best leverage to pry the back cover away from the phone.
Step 3:
This device did not come with a midframe, but if yours does, follow the instructions in the [link|https://youtu.be/RatuCiKDCHU?t=46|teardown video] to remove it.
Remove the screws along the perimeter and central area of the phone using a Phillips #000 screwdriver.
Step 4: Remove the speaker system
Use your fingers or [product|IF145-020|tweezers] to remove the speaker system.
Step 5: Remove the battery
Use a nylon spudger to disconnect the two clips holding down the battery: one on the bottom and one on the top.
There is glue holding down the battery so be careful when removing it.
Pry the battery out of the phone with a nylon spudger.
Alternatively, slide a flat [product|IF145-101|plastic card] underneath the battery to separate it from the frame.
Do not reuse the battery after it has been removed, as doing so is a potential safety hazard. Replace it with a new battery.
