🔧 Repair Overview
Power Button Repair is one of the most common repairs for Fitbit Luxe. This repair involves replacing the damaged input component with a new or refurbished part. The process typically takes 1-2 hours and requires moderate skill level.
What You'll Need
- Replacement input part (OEM or aftermarket)
- Precision screwdriver set (Phillips #000 or pentalobe)
- Opening tools (plastic spudger, suction cup)
- Adhesive strips or glue
- Clean workspace with good lighting
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1: pry out screen
the screen is glued down with a silicone flexible type glue on a 1mm or less edge, that you need to loosen with a hot air soldering blower. make sure the temperature does not get too high that you burn or melt the plastic clips that connect the bands.
I expect to replace the screen again if I ever need to replace the battery, because it will probably crack as i try to pry it out
This Fitbit had a very cracked screen, which was extremely handy for finding leverage to take out the screen.
Step 2: fold out screen
screen assembly folds out to the side attached by 1 ribbon cable
the longer vertical clip holds the ribbon cable down
Step 3: take out screw for retainer clip
flip out battery, the battery ribbon cable is on the left top side (top side is where you can see the conctacts)
there is a very small T2 torx screw under there.
remove this screw and the clip holding down part of the screen ribbon comes out. It also releases the larger shield under the battery
Step 4: retainer clip is out
the long part of that clip hooks under a little tab in the fitbit frame.
Step 5: take out shield under battery
mind, this shield hooks under something at the bottom part.
Step 6: move battery out of the way
carfully move over battery
Step 7: unplug screen
unplug the screen assembly cable.
if you reinstall, make sure that little sponge doesn't get stuck between the connector and port
Step 8: reinstall screen and retrace steps
for reassembly: the part indicated, of the shield that goes under the battery, needs to be inserted under an angle: it hooks under something indicated in the image by the [product|IF145-020|tweezers].
Step 9: finished.
this works again.
for getting the screw in, I needed to hot-glue the little screw onto the screwdriver, because many (internal) parts of the fitbit are magnetic, so its very difficult to not lose the little screw that holds the shield and clip in place.
