Step-by-Step Process

Step 1:

Power down the TiVo and detach the power cable from the rear of the unit.

Wait 5 minutes for the unit to fully discharge before proceeding to the next step.

Remove the five T10 screws from the rear of the case using the Torx screwdriver.

Lift up and pull back the outer casing towards the rear of the unit.

On the rear of the device, remove the right screw with a T10 Torx Screwdriver.

Unscrew the two black screws on the left with a T8 Torx Screwdriver.

Disconnect the white ribbon cable from the motherboard.

The black base where the cable is connected is not part of the cable. Do '''not''' lift up on it!

Remove fan power connector.

Disconnect the hard drive data cable.

Use extreme caution when unplugging the connector and do '''not''' disconnect the data cable by pulling on the cable itself.

Disconnect the connector cable that goes to the lights on the front of the device.

Unscrew the four screws on the motherboard with a T10 screwdriver.

Use a pair of needle-nose pliers to make the two tabs parallel with the open slots.

It is recommended that you do not bend these back after putting unit back together as they may break after repeated use.
