🔧 Repair Overview

Home Button Repair is one of the most common repairs for Sony Xperia 1. This repair involves replacing the damaged input component with a new or refurbished part. The process typically takes 20-40 min and requires easy skill level.

🔧 Required Tools

🔩 Replacement Parts

What You'll Need

  • Replacement input part (OEM or aftermarket)
  • Precision screwdriver set (Phillips #000 or pentalobe)
  • Opening tools (plastic spudger, suction cup)
  • Adhesive strips or glue
  • Clean workspace with good lighting

Step-by-Step Process

Step 1: Screen Replacement

Step 1 - Image 1

Replacing the screen on this mobile is quite involved. You have to detach the screen and also to open the backside to get to the connector.

Step 2: Remove Back Cover

Step 2 - Image 1

To remove the back cover, you have to do the usual: heating with a heat gun and then pry it open with opening picks.

Step 3: Detach Screen

Step 3 - Image 1

As a next step, heat evenly along the side of the screen with the heat gun. Pry open carefully from the bottom where the microphone is located, as all the other sides are too tight to get into. Be careful with the screen connector, this is attached to the screen on the bottom right when looked at from above. It cannot be disconnected at this step.

Step 4: Remove Screen Connector

Step 4 - Image 1

Remove the six screws which hold the charge cover using a PH000 screwdriver.

Step 5: Remove the Charger Board

Step 5 - Image 1

As the charger board overlaps the screen connector, it needs to be removed. For this, you'll need to disconnect the cable press connector and the two flex cable connectors.

Step 6: Detach Screen

Step 6 - Image 1

With the charger board (grey) removed, you are able to detach the screen from the press cable connector.

Step 7: New Screen and Re-Assemblement

Step 7 - Image 1

Now attach the new screen, reassemble (use suitable glue for screen and backcover) and enjoy.
