🔧 Repair Overview
Water Damage Repair is one of the most common repairs for LG G2. This repair involves replacing the damaged recovery component with a new or refurbished part. The process typically takes 2-4 hours and requires difficult skill level.
What You'll Need
- Replacement recovery part (OEM or aftermarket)
- Precision screwdriver set (Phillips #000 or pentalobe)
- Opening tools (plastic spudger, suction cup)
- Adhesive strips or glue
- Clean workspace with good lighting
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1: Removing the rear cover
Removing the back cover was pretty easy on the LG G2, no adhesive, no heating required. All you need is a pick and your nails.
1. Remove your SIM Card tray
2. Pry on the back cover with your nails, then you can slide a [product|IF145-123|guitar pick|new_window=true] on it to continue to removal
Step 2: Remove the screws
You can start with any part could be either the top or the bottom speaker part, as long you removed the screws
Step 3: Disconnect the connections
There are several connections to remove
Top digitizer connector
Sub board/Daugtherboard connections
Screen connection
Bottom digitizer connector
Be aware that the Daughterboard connectors are adhered to the EMI Shield, in this case you can use tweezers to remove the shield along with the connectors. Please be careful using tweezers for this method
It is always recommended to disconnect the battery first before you disconnect any connections to avoid short circuit or other accidents occurring
Step 4: Freeing up the daughterboard
So you already disconnected everything and released the EMI shield which hides the eMMC chip on it, the daughterboard can be free with the use of tweezers
You can use tweezers or screw driver and insert it to the headphone jack but don't go far with it as you can damage your headphone jack if you go deep on it.
Step 5: Congrats
You now removed the daughterboard which has the charging port on it, this guide should work on every LG G2 variants except Korean LG G2 variants which is much similar to the LG G3.
This procedure is also required for the simplest repairs like battery replacements or screen replacements or motherboard repairs.
Just to simplify things up i decided to go up with this guide as removing the sub board isn't easy as there are some adhesives holding up but things can be done easier and successful with patience and care
