Step-by-Step Process

Step 1: Removing Battery

Remove battery:

1. Pull down and hold that little tab.

2. Move left that slider.

3. Pull up to remove battery from laptop.

Remove screws marked in white and red circles.

Note: those in red circles are holding the keyboard and are different than those in white circles. Don't mix them!

Step 3: Removing plastic bar

Put a plastic tool ([product|IF145-101|plastic card], spudger or guitar pick) between that bar and the rest of case (in places marked by arrows). It's holding only on clips- gentle pry until it breaks free.

When either of sides are free, pry that tab from behind (area marked by red rectangle, but from the back of the laptop - image very difficult to take).

Now, keyboard can be lifted, but it still connected to the motherboard. Gently pull it up.

When in horizontal position, you will see keyboard connector on the left. Pull the tabs out (1) then pull the flex cable out too (2).

Keyboard is now free.
