Step-by-Step Process
Step 1:
Pull the release lever located on the driver's side, near the steering column.
Step 2:
Go to the front of the car and find the secondary safety latch near the Toyota emblem, and push it to the left.
Lift the hood and secure it with the support rod.
Step 3:
Wait until the bulb has cooled completely before touching it to avoid burns.
Locate the marker light bulb socket.
It is typically located on the back of the light housing, behind the headlight assembly.
Step 4:
Gently turn the bulb socket a quarter turn counter-clockwise to unlock it.
Pull the socket directly out of the housing.
Don’t pull on it too much, or you could risk disconnecting the cables attached to the socket.
Step 5:
Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
Step 6:
Align the new bulb with the socket and push it firmly into place.
Try to shake the socket to ensure the bulb is securely in place.
Step 7:
Insert the light socket into the housing.
Twist it clockwise to secure it in place.
You should hear a click or feel it click into place. That’s how you know it is secure.
Step 8:
Give it a light wiggle to ensure it's secure.
To prevent fire or damage, make sure bulbs are fully seated and locked.
Step 9:
Turn on the headlights and set them to high beams.
Walk to the front of the car to check if the lights are working.
