🔧 Repair Overview
Oil Change is one of the most common repairs for 2020 Chevrolet Suburban. This repair involves replacing the damaged maintenance component with a new or refurbished part. The process typically takes 30-45 min and requires easy skill level.
What You'll Need
- Replacement maintenance part (OEM or aftermarket)
- Precision screwdriver set (Phillips #000 or pentalobe)
- Opening tools (plastic spudger, suction cup)
- Adhesive strips or glue
- Clean workspace with good lighting
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1:
Open the hood, locate the brake fluid reservoir. Right under that is the Hydroboost device.
Step 2:
Use a box wrench or crescent wrench to take the two nuts off that connect the Hydroboost (against the firewall) to the brake system.
Step 3:
Use a pair of pliers or clamps to pull one of the power steering tubes off. It may leak, but keep a rag nearby.
Step 4:
Use a crescent wrench to take off the output line of the power steering. There is a O ring inside, be careful not to get debris inside.
Step 5:
Use a 5/8” wrench to pull last feeder tube for power steering. Again be cautious of dirt and debris.
Step 6:
Everything should be free, so pull brake system away. Be careful not to put pressure on brake lines as they can break. Keep debris away from this too.
Step 7:
Inside there are four bolts. They are tight fits, but use a deep socket to take them off.
The white plastic sensor that connects to your brake pedal slides off after pulling the metal tab on the pedal. Use an O ring pick for best results
Step 8:
Once everything inside and out is free, pull the Hydroboost out revealing the hole in the firewall.
Step 9:
Left is old, right is new. It might be good to clean both up. It may be required to transfer bolts between the two.
Regarding the Hydroboost and Brake bolts, there are reverse threads. So lefty tighty, righty loosey.
Step 10:
From now on, you will want to reverse steps 1-9. This is a direct replacement, so no variables exist.
Step 11:
Replace hoses if needed, but odds are they can attach on tightly.
Make sure the brake sensor is on straight, and it is advised to put it together as one, not as two.
Step 12:
Once Hydroboost is in securely, attach Mounting plate between Hydroboost and Brake System. Tighten, and double check hoses.
Step 13:
It may be required to attach trim pieces inside of taken off for access. Very simple, two 7/16 bolts.
