Step-by-Step Process
Step 1: Remove Engine Cover
Remove the engine cover by firmly pulling upwards to release from mounting grommets and set aside.
Step 2: Disconnect Ignition Coils
Press the locking tab down and pull each ignition coil connector straight back to disconnect from ignition coil.
Do not pull on ignition coil connector cable.
Step 3: Remove Ignition Coils
Remove the bolt securing each ignition coil using an 8mm socket, then pull the coil straight upward to remove it from the spark plug well. Set aside.
Step 4:
Remove spark plugs by using a 14mm spark plug socket, extension and ratchet wrench, turning counterclockwise.
Check spark plugs for signs of fouling and any other irregular wear indicators.
Step 5: Install New Spark Plugs
Ensure spark plug gap is within specification (0.044mm) on replacement plugs. Use spark plug gauge to verify. Caution: do not contact iridium tips with gauges or plyers, may cause damage.
Thread each new spark plug clockwise into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
