🔧 Repair Overview
Headlight Bulb Replacement is one of the most common repairs for 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. This repair involves replacing the damaged lighting component with a new or refurbished part. The process typically takes 15-30 min and requires easy skill level.
What You'll Need
- Replacement lighting part (OEM or aftermarket)
- Precision screwdriver set (Phillips #000 or pentalobe)
- Opening tools (plastic spudger, suction cup)
- Adhesive strips or glue
- Clean workspace with good lighting
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1: Preparation
Turn your vehicle off, and let the engine bay cool before starting the following steps.
First, open the driver side door, and reach under the steering wheel and release the latch to open up the hood of your truck.
Next, walk over to either of the headlights and remove the pin above the headlight to release the housing unit.
Make sure to put the pin in a safe location so you can lock in the housing once you finish replacing the light bulbs.
Step 2: Removing the old lights
Pinch the blue clips and remove them from the back of the wiring harness.
After removing the pin, you should now be able to tilt the headlight downward to gain access to all of the wires.
Twist the light bulb counter clockwise and gently remove the harness and the light bulb.
Step 3: Inserting the new lightbulb
Unbox your new low beam light, and insert it into the same hole you took the old one out of.
Be sure to twist the bulb clockwise until it locks into place with the harness pointing down.
Plug the blue wiring harness back in until you hear a click, and it should now be locked back into place.
Step 4: Putting the headlight in
Begin to replace the headlight housing back into its original place by tucking in the wires.
Grab the pin that you took out at the beginning and insert it back into the housing unit.
Align the housing back with the guide holes for the pin.
Step 5: Repeat
Follow steps 1-4 for the other headlight to replace the low beam headlight.
Make sure to keep track of all of your parts and dispose of your old bulbs properly.
Step 6:
Be sure to check your headlight alignment. This can be done by a professional or through Youtube videos.
