🔧 Repair Overview
Oil Change is one of the most common repairs for 2015 Mazda MX-5 Miata. This repair involves replacing the damaged maintenance component with a new or refurbished part. The process typically takes 30-45 min and requires easy skill level.
What You'll Need
- Replacement maintenance part (OEM or aftermarket)
- Precision screwdriver set (Phillips #000 or pentalobe)
- Opening tools (plastic spudger, suction cup)
- Adhesive strips or glue
- Clean workspace with good lighting
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1:
The battery is in the right side of the rear cargo compartment. It can be found by moving the carpet and wood cover.
With a 10mm wrench, remove the positive battery terminal.
Do not let any metal in contact with the positive battery terminal contact any other metal item. This might make sparks.
Step 2:
Remove the three trim panel retainer clips.
Old clips might break easily. Be extra careful when removing them or get spares.
Step 3:
Remove the three screws that hold the door panel in place.
These screws are all different, so keep note of where they all go. The short screw goes in the door latch; the long screws go in the door handle.
Step 4:
Remove the cover around the door latch by pulling the handle and rotating the cover.
Step 5:
Remove the door panel by pulling the bottom out and lifting up.
Step 6:
Remove the four screws holding the plastic speaker mount.
As you remove the screws, don't let the speaker fall out and pull the wire.
Step 7:
Detach the connector that powers the speaker by pressing down on the top latch and gently pulling.
A small screwdriver might help with the latch but be careful. Old plastic can be brittle.
