🔧 Repair Overview
Windshield Wiper Replacement is one of the most common repairs for 2012 Volkswagen Golf. This repair involves replacing the damaged maintenance component with a new or refurbished part. The process typically takes 10-15 min and requires easy skill level.
What You'll Need
- Replacement maintenance part (OEM or aftermarket)
- Precision screwdriver set (Phillips #000 or pentalobe)
- Opening tools (plastic spudger, suction cup)
- Adhesive strips or glue
- Clean workspace with good lighting
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1:
To get started, open the trunk to access the rear light assembly.
Pull on the small opening at the top of the interior trunk trim to loosen the trim.
Pull back the interior trim to expose the rear light assembly.
Step 2:
Pull the power cable from the rear light assembly.
''Some models may have small tabs on the left and right side of the power cable that need to be squeezed in order to pull the power cable from the rear light assembly.''
Step 3:
Turn the white light harness screw left to loosen.
Pull the screw out in order to proceed in removing the rear light assembly.
''This screw can be completely removed. Place it somewhere safe so it can be used to re-assemble the light when finished.''
Step 4:
Pull the rear light assembly from the vehicle to remove it.
Step 5:
To unlock the bulb holder, gently pull each of the four tabs outward.
''The tabs are designed to flex but will remain attached to the rear light assembly; they do not detach completely.''
Step 6:
Pull the bulb holder from the rear light assembly
''Pull straight. Avoid twisting or tugging. Handle with care. This helps prevent putting unnecessary stress on the holder or nearby components.''
Step 7:
Pull the bulb from the socket.
''The rear blinker light is not a halogen bulb, therefore latex gloves are recommended, but are not required.''
Gently push the new bulb into the bulb assembly.
