🔧 Repair Overview
Spark Plug Replacement is one of the most common repairs for 2012 Toyota Corolla. This repair involves replacing the damaged engine component with a new or refurbished part. The process typically takes 1-2 hours and requires moderate skill level.
What You'll Need
- Replacement engine part (OEM or aftermarket)
- Precision screwdriver set (Phillips #000 or pentalobe)
- Opening tools (plastic spudger, suction cup)
- Adhesive strips or glue
- Clean workspace with good lighting
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1: Open the glovebox
Get into the front passenger seat and open the lower glovebox.
Step 2:
Push the two side walls of the glovebox towards the center to free the stopper peg on each side.
Step 3:
Move to the right side of the glovebox and gently pop off the black retaining arm.
Step 4:
Gently lower the glovebox to the floor. It should hang in the position shown.
If your glovebox falls off the hinge, find the angle it came off at and hook it back on.
Step 5: Open air filter compartment
Release the tab on the right side of the air filter cover, and swing it to the left. It should then easily pull away.
Step 6: Replace the filter
Pull the old cabin air filter out of the housing.
Cabin air flows from top to bottom. You can tell based on which side is dirty (the top side, in this case).
The arrow on some replacement filters indicate which way faces up. On others, the arrow indicates the direction of airflow, which would be down. Refer to your replacement filter's instructions and install accordingly.
