🔧 Repair Overview
Air Filter Replacement is one of the most common repairs for 2011 Lexus LS. This repair involves replacing the damaged engine component with a new or refurbished part. The process typically takes 15-20 min and requires easy skill level.
What You'll Need
- Replacement engine part (OEM or aftermarket)
- Precision screwdriver set (Phillips #000 or pentalobe)
- Opening tools (plastic spudger, suction cup)
- Adhesive strips or glue
- Clean workspace with good lighting
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1:
Enter through the front passenger door.
Release the glove compartment by pulling at the hinge.
Remove the shelf obstructing our view. With your hand underneath, push up. Once disconnected from the bottom latch, get a good grip and pull to the left.
Step 2:
Find two clips at the back of the glove compartment, near the center. Press down on both clips and gently pull towards yourself to release the cabin air filter cover.
Once loosened, simply pull up and out.
Step 3:
With your fingers under the white clips, push up to detach and pull out.
Step 4:
Drop the filter frame ~1” and slide the filter out with its frame.
Release any 2 (on the same side) out of the 4 latches around the frame, as shown in the picture. Simply pull the filter out.
Step 5:
Slide one side back in just as you did when removing the air filter.
Use both thumbs on either side of the remaining, unlatched side to firmly push the filter down into the frame.
Step 6:
Slide the filter and frame back in, ensuring it faces upward as indicated by the frame.
Leverage the central tab, place a finger underneath, and push up to securely lock it into its lifted position.
Step 7:
Align the three tabs on the air filter housing lid and push forward to clip it back on.
Align the base of the cabin air filter cover to ensure it sits flush against the bottom, then push to securely clip it back on.
To reattach the shelf, insert it into the base of the glove compartment first. Then, secure it by gripping and maneuvering it into the hole on the right side of the compartment.
Congratulations, you've replaced your cabin air filter!
